Developer Commentary

Characters

Hi! Ymne here.

This devlog is about the development of the game. what the goals are for the future, what went right, what went wrong, and so on.

First of all, I’m making this game purely for fun. It’s meant to be a fan project, I really love Hololive members and Hololive indie games like HoloCure, Holo X Break, Hololive Treasure Mountain, and more. They inspired me to make this game. Since I have some free time right now, I want to focus on improving and developing it further.

My current goal is to ensure that the fundamentals of the game are well-polished. Once that’s done, I plan to expand with new maps and characters as priority after all fundamentals are done... and yep, I'm pretty much a Gura and Ame fan, so don’t mind if they appear a lot here, haha~, I also want to add more Hololive characters if possible. Currently, I’ve only finished EN Myth.

The reason I’m prioritizing polishing the base game first is that it will make future development much easier from my perspective. I have an issue when I start with a big scope. Most of the games I've made have failed because I didn't polish the fundamentals first. I know my code and development approach are messy and 'spaghetti,' but at the very least, I want to make the foundation solid first.

Of course, I have plenty of ideas, including adding new game modes or even (PvP) multiplayer support if possible, I really want to create a 2D animated opening as well, especially since I'm still learning animation. However, since I’m working on this alone, I’m keeping my expectations realistic.

Secondly, I apologize for the lack of assets, especially music and SFX. The main issue is that I’m still not very skilled at creating them. I’m not sure if this game will remain without music until the end, or if I’ll even be able to finish it. Please don’t ask me to use AI-generated art assets, I want all the art to be completely human-made. There is a small amount of AI-generated content, such as code, since I use GitHub Copilot to assist with minor fixes. However, most of the work like major codes and art-assets is still handmade.

Lastly, I’m the kind of person who constantly comes up with new ideas, so there may be times when development is delayed because I’m experimenting with developing a new games. If you’d like to help, feel free to contact me on X/Twitter, especially if you can assist with assets, I’d really appreciate it!

I love making games, and this is technically the second game I’ve uploaded on Itch.io with my own account. (The first one was unlisted because I thought it was too bad xD)

Have fun, and thanks to everyone who plays this game!
